Christmas Projects - Let's Make Gift Tags!

The holidays provide us with so many reasons to be creative. Here's another fun Christmas Projects and Plans from All-About-Stencils.

There are so many ways you can use stencils to create beautifully unique gift tags. And never forget that if you are doing it yourself you have an endless number of opportunities to have it your way!

I like to match the gift bags with tags. That's easy if you are making both. Don't get overwhelmed. You'll find the details for decorating gift bags at Christmas Craft Ideas. You'll find many ways to decorate with your own personal style.

Like most of our Christmas Projects, this one uses free Christmas stencils that can be found through out this web site for free! So, browse around to find them (like a treasure hunt) and you'll be amazed at how many other great free stencils you can find for Christmas, Halloween and year round.

As you might be able to tell, this was a very easy Christmas Project. I printed the stencils onto colored paper. Notice that I used some light colors. The print shows up much better on light colors and that's important because you will need to cut out the pattern.

Now, you need to think about how to get the stencil to print to the right size for your gift tag. If you have an image software like Photoshop you can copy the .jpg file and re-size it in Photoshop. If not you can print the original stencil and then re-size it on a copy machine. If worse comes to worse you can use the pattern to sketch one the right size for your gift tags.

Once you have the stencils sized right on your paper, cut along the lines (carefully) with a craft knife. Now don't throw away the pieces that you cut out because as you may notice from the gift tags I have pictured here, you can use those pieces to create another gift tag. Just glue them onto a different color paper.

I have some of those cute scalloped scissors that I picked up at the craft store but if you don't just cut the paper pieces out making sure that the top one is slightly smaller than the bottom piece so some of the color can be seen.

Then I used a hole punch tool to put the hole in the top for my ribbon.

Remember, it's your ball game so be creative. Make diamond shapes or circles or ovals, use different colors (not just green and red), use different designs like a Fleur de lis.

Classic Christmas Cards

Here’s a neat little book that I created for Christmas Card Making. The designs can be used as stencils or masks. You can use them to apply paint or cut out colored paper and paste. You might not think of the Fleur de lis as a Christmas Design but it does make an elegant addition to Holiday Decorations.
